Hehehe....ok.....come on my brother....that's ONE of an entire group (and show me where I said it sold for BIN/"asking"??...hint, I didn't).....and I'm SURE it did sell for considerably more than the "3k to 4k" most have listed in this thread (which are loooowball valuations). Which, incidentally, perfectly demonstrates my point (you do realize that I assume??). I'm also comfortable saying that it sold for more than "$7k." (Or this guy won't be a dealer for very long)

Also, there are multiple additional examples (that I DIDN'T list) where the sale price was far above the lowball values that have been given in this thread......i didn't list half of them....and this is only from ONE source....eBay.

I have a buddy that has almost exactly the same truck, year model and all, with about the same mileage. It is the most well taken care of pickup I’ve ever seen. Not a bump or scratch on it. Not a stain on the interior.
He is trying to sell it to me since I need a truck to keep at the coast. He wants $5k and I’m having a hard time with that.

To answer your question - yes that is what it is worth for somebody else to decide they want to own it in that condition.

The question for you is how much is it worth to keep it instead of buying a new vehicle. If you want more for it for trade in... buy more vehicle and use the trade in value as the negotiation. A dealer will often times give you more, if they know you are going to spend more... whether it be in price or in financing. But... and the end of the day, it is only going to make you feel better about getting more for your vehicle... when all you are doing is playing the numbers game on a new one.

looking at prices it seems there may be a sweet spot for a trade in that few people talk about. The price for a 3 year old truck with 35,000 miles is still really high. But once the millage goes close to 100,000 the price starts to fall rapidly. where a truck that is 15-20 years old is not worth much at all. If I spend 40,000 on a truck and drive it for 20 years I have spent 2,000 a year and it is not going to be worth anything. If I can trade in my 3 year old truck and only spend 5-6k out of pocket that is the same yearly expenditure as driving the same one for 20 years and I get to drive a new truck with low maintenance. This has me thinking about the numbers and that maybe I should sell my 3 year old truck before it gets to old. I never would have thought this would be a good idea in the past.

Dr. Evil -the part that you are missing is that the truck is worth more to you than it is to anybody else.

Until that changes, it'll be your truck.
