Just because you think it’s worth more doesn’t mean it is. Good luck with the sale or trade in if you end up getting something new

In a gasser the only thing I’d consider buying with that many miles is a Toyota

He may be asking $5K for the truck + $2K for the sentimental value?

I understand sentimental value. Problem is that only applies to the seller.

I'd go $3500 on a 15 year old gas truck.

Depends on what type of truck you have.
              I sold a 2004 with 120k miles on it for 21k.

If you find a Shelby for $70k buy two

Is this a trade in value? They'll always undercut you to make top $. Like several have said, you can sell outright to a dumbars with more money than sense. A teen looking for a truck with daddy's $ is in all cities.

I sold an ‘06 Ram Mega Cab with 195k miles on it for $5k last year. If you’re getting offered $7k, you’re ahead of the game. If you can’t take that, just stay on top of the maintenance and set aside money for the inevitable big money repairs, and drive it till it completely craters on you

I have an '07 King Ranch long bed 4x4 with 190k and the offers I'm getting for trade-in are mostly around $3-3500.

I sold a 2010 Tacoma with 140k miles last year for $9k. Think I’d consider their offer at least reasonable.

The mileage worries me less than the age. Things deteriorate over time. If maintenance is kept up it still has a lot of miles left in it.

Yes, being a 05, then 150,000 miles, they won't give you much for it. Truthfully, if they really know those trucks, they probably aren't giving you $7,000 for it like they are telling you, that or they have plenty of cushion on the truck you want to buy. The 3 valve 4.6s ad 5.4s are not very well liked, with all of the broken spark plug problems and the cam phaser problems.

I have a 02 F350, ten years ago, I was seeing them for $3,500 to $7,000, 4X4s and even crew cabs. Then I found out what the new trucks were going for at that time and decided, I did not need a new truck, but the prices have gone way up since, that time.

I would say $7,000 would be on the high end for any 3 valve F150. On the other side of things, there is no way, I would ever pay what they want for a truck now days. If you really want a new truck, all I can say, is the value of your truck is going to keep going down, the longer you hang onto it and the price of the new trucks will just keep going up so the difference in value will rapidly increase as the years go by.
People stupidly keep paying insane prices for these new trucks so the manufactures keep raising the price. If people would stop buying them, they would come down on the price and get more realistic on the pricing. But that is not going to happen.
