    Bowtech or Mathews

I’m buying a used bow I need you’ll to help me decide . The options are Bowtech assassin in excellent condition or a 12 year old Mathews Legacy also in great condition. The Bowtech is much newer and claimed to be used only once . Both are for the same price and fully loaded ready to shoot. Advice please

Shoot both if you can and see which one feels better.

Sounds like either someone is way overvaluing their Mathews, or way undervaluing their Bowtech.

I truly believe in the world of Mathews, Bowtech, and Hoyt, there really isn’t a bad option, just personal preference. I have shot nothing but Mathews for about 12 years now, and personally don’t see any reason to change. They are just so smooth and I’m not as young as I once was. I shot a Hoyt recently, and while a nice bow, and fast as all holy hell, but very opposite of the Mathews in the smoothness dept. I have no experience at all with Bowtech other than the few I know who have them really like them.

All that to say shoot them both, and whichever you prefer personally, go with it. Both will be quality bows. If you feel like the price is fair, go with it. But without knowing any other details, there should be a huge discrepancy in price between those two options. One is either way too much, or the other is super cheap.

Based on the age alone, the Bowtech seems like a better deal.

I like both brands, but I'd buy the assassin.

I’ve been shooting a recurve for years now, I haven’t had a compound for just as long . I’m hunting a new area and no longer have the ground cover I once had . I’ll be in a tree stand mostly and shooting 20 yards plus . I’ll think about the bow decision for a little longer but I’m leaning towards the bowtech

Well having owned a Mathews and knowing how the Bowtecs like to split a limb at a moments notice, I would go with the Legacy....hince my screen name.

How much are you paying for it? You prolly have better options.

The Assassin is a WAY better bow. Sold hundreds of them and have never had a single one come in for a warranty issue. Even had several dry-fired bending cams and breaking strings, but still never created a limb issue. I’ve been shooting 2, 60 lb Assassins since ‘11, and both are crunched and loaded to 64-65 lbs with zero issues. I still think it is the best hunting bow that Bowtech has ever made.

Mathews guy here, but like everyone else said, shoot them both! I still shoot a 12y/o DXT, with zero issues out of it. Don’t let the age shy you away from which fits you best!

Another plus to the Assassin is that it has an adjustable draws-stop so that you can fine tune let-off to your liking. Binary cams with rotating modules from 26-30” DL.
