I like fishing the north side down there more than the south side.

I remember many times hiding up in the old river when the wind blew me and my old boat off the bay. Had some epic red fish days up there and that wreck at the mouth was always food for a flounder or 2

All that has changed. Be careful.

But yeah, there is alot of good fishing on that end.

One of the best gaftop fisheries in the state.

I used to wait for a good stiff north wind to fish the north shoreline of East Galveston bay behind the refuge... Man, I caught some good fish there! I wonder what closing Rollover pass will do to that bay? I just have a hard time thinking it will improve fishing. That's a mighty big bay to be a dead end bay (no river or even big creek dumping into it...

I bet it makes the Jetty and all that water really good fishing now that the fish only have one way in and one way out!

I had a customer catch one over there that would have won it two years ago but they were not entered. It was a beast.

Everyone thinks every big gaftop is 7 or 8# but let me tell you, a 7# gaftop is a massive gaftop. Most of those 8#ers are really 4-5#ers.

Man I caught one wading along the Lydia Ann Channel in aransas on a soft dine that I was convinced was gunna win. I strung that slimy sucker and drug him back to the boat and he was only 6 lbs. I tried everybody’s boga that was with me thinking he was over 8. They are definitely deceiving.

Ran across this on Cca site from tpwd experience for trout length.
                                6 lb trout averaged 25 7/8 inches
                                8 lb trout averaged 28 1/3 inches
Rule of thumb under 27 inches trout chances are won't make 8 lbs for trout division
Rule of thumb for youth division 25 inches won't make 6 lbs for trout
