I got popped by a rattler when I got out of my Bow Blind in South texas several years ago. It felt like a branch had hit my boot. When I looked down there she was. When I finally realized what it was I jumped back and she hit me a second time. The noise that came out of me is one that I never knew I could make. They say to remain calm......yeah right. I got out onto the sendero and checked my Chippewa boots. I had two fang marks with a little Bit of venom where’s the heal of the boot meets the Gortex green material. I wear them religiously even when it is 100 degrees during the summer. As others have said they really help also when busting through brush and cactus looking for sheds, quail or wounded game.
