I'd shoot fiochhi golden pheasant 1 3/8 oz #4 or 5 lead shot through a tight enough choke to give me a good pattern and lead the head and neck like I was shooting a dove.

It will kill them no problem.

I shoot them with steel goose or duck loads out of my 12 or 10 gauge typically. Duck loads you want to get out in front with a tight pattern on the head and neck also. Goose loads of bb or bbb with take them out with body shots easily though.

Seems most are way over gunned, or not where they want to be. Killed piles of them with 3" 2 steel all day long

I've hit them with #4 and 5 shot in 3 1/2" in both 12 and 10 gauge and watched them fly away. You have to hit them in the head or they ain't going down. Switched to lead BB and killed what I was shooting at. Those things are stupid tough.

Lead #5’s choked full through a 28 is bad medicine for cranes.

Assuming you're following TPWD regs, it must be a small pile and if it took all day long to make it, you need a place with better target density...or more practice.
