I always shoot 3” shells with modified or improved cylinder choke. I’ll shoot bb or 2’s if steel shot and 2’s if using some sort of heavy shot like bismuth or tungsten. I don’t get to go enough and don’t burn a ton of shells when I go. So, I typically use bismuth or tungsten.

I shot one with a 300 win mag and it became a pile of feathers.

3” #4 Remington Nitro turkey loads with a full choke. Cheap and effective.

You can only kill 3. That’s like 2 shots for me. Lol

Impressive. I've never killed 2 cranes with one shot. Congrats!

Not to mention shooting cripples, hunting 3 days in a row, etc. I guess if you hunt one day a year it isn't that bad.

Not to mention I'm getting old, fat, and fragile!

I was kidding about the 2 shots thing. Lol. I haven’t hunted cranes since I moved back down from the panhandle. We have them down here but I’ve never been able to really target them like we did up there.

I would shoot bismuth or tungsten #2’s. I had an old Winchester that only shot the shorties and I killed piles of geese with it. If the cranes are decoying they aren’t that hard to kill.
