The Can and the first 36 hours

Well Guys Its been 36 hours without a dip!! I am about to go crazy I want 1 so bad. Today was ok I ate about 30 jolly ranchers and chewed some gum. I also had a fight with the g/f due to the can. I sure hope that I can make it through. When will the urges subside just a little.

I quit once for about 25 days...I gained about 20 pounds in that time frame. Sorry to say the urge never went away. I hope you can make it. Good luck.

        What Cajun Blake said.

I'm not addicted, so it's easy for me to say, but don't let the temptation get the better of you. Do not allow yourself to be anywhere where the stuff may be. You don't need that stuff. Your life is too important, as is your future.

Thats my problem! I didn't start dipping right out of the womb!

Good luck. I dipped a little in Jr. High but just never aquired a taste for it. Now the 7up bottles full of sprite and everclear kept in the lockers was another storie.

What you're going through is very normal withdraw symptoms.

I felt very edgy that 1st week. Right now you likely feel agitated and jittery...and you likely would relish the idea of a scrap.

Rest assured - things will get easier in time. It's hard, but it's worth it.

Those first few days are killer! At this point its mind over matter... Just have to convince yourself that you don't want one. This may sound crazy and its definately hard to do, but try not to think about how bad you want one. I found myself sitting there all day long just thinking about how bad I wanted a dip and it never would go away. Once you can get to where you don't think about it constantly, half the battle is whipped.

Good luck to you. It can be done.
                    Day 377 for me!

The thing that I enjoy most is having that extra $100-150 every month to spend on something that doesn't wind up in a trash can or on the ground. When I first quit it was a little hard to be around other people who dipped but now I enjoy the challenge of not giving in. It has been almost a year since I quit cold turkey and I don't regret it one bit. You have to believe in yourself and you can do it.

Glad to see you have started... it will get better with time and do use mini-goals if necessary like Cajun Blake said.

Remember why you are doing this and remind your GF you love her and need her support right now. The edginess will pass.

If you need a visual reminder, again, here is one guy's story of his battle with the can and cancer... http://www.outdoortexan.com/warning.htm

I can offer you two words of advice....

                              Plastic Toothpicks

They got me through quitting in '98

Now if anyone has a method of breaking a plastic toothpick addiction please forward it to me...
