I just finished American Gods by Neil Gaiman. It’s about a war between ancient gods (Odin, Etc) and new American gods (TV, Liberty, etc) that are trying to kill them off and take control. The main character is a bit of drifter, caught in the middle.

Fantastic idea for a story. Very creative. Poorly developed and written. Basically, a disappointing pile of crap that could have been much much more than it was.

Currently reading The Three Body Problem, which is a Chinese science fiction novel translated to English. It’s surprisingly awesome.

Another one that I read was the William R. Forstchen "After" series (3 books), which is a story about what happens when an EMP goes off in the US. It was really good and kinda eye opening.

I second “one-second after”. Easy read and thought provoking. The other two in the series were good...but not quite as good.
