I used to hunt near Ballinger, not that far from Bangs. Three of us saw one try to cross the county road in front of us in the middle of the day. Nobody said anything, so I waited a few seconds and asked “Well, I know what I saw, what did y’all see ?” ........Lion !
It looked to me to be about half grown, and it was definitely a long tailed cat, but we never saw any evidence of it after that. It was a couple miles from my lease.
Keep trying, maybe you’ll get it !

There have been some.... INTERESTING cat mounts posted up here recently...
I've never seen one in person, rather tracks but it does make one pause getting to the stand, lol! We do have several documented sightings where we hunt near Robert Lee and a big Tom was run over a year past near Water Valley.

Awesome story. I saw one in broad daylight last year while hunting the LRGV Teniente tract. The spot I was hunting was a half mile walk in and while I was walking out after one of my morning sits I saw something move to my right at about 15 yards. I stopped to watch as it trotted off into the trees and at first thought it was a hog but after seeing the ears and tail I knew exactly what it was. It was a bow hunt but I always have my glock 10mm on my hip and my hand instinctively went for it but I didnt draw. The cats back was almost level with the top of the grass so I questioned myself as to what I just saw whether it was a bobcat or a lion so I walked into the grass about where I saw it and the grass was above mid thigh. Needless to say after that I was a little nervous while walking in or out in the dark.
