What dove load do you shoot?

I always bring 6s with me for them high flyers

I started using only 6s last year on every hunt. Reason being, I was gifted about 25 boxes of them by my FIL who doesn't really hunt anymore. Figure I'll just use em up and not buy any until I run out. They worked well last year.

I generally use anything but Remington or aluminum capped winchesters. I seem to have problems with Remington being pretty dirty, and the aluminum cap rips off when ejecting and the hull ends up stuck in the gun.

I used Monarchs last year and liked them. I also pack a #6 or a high brass in the for the third shot to reach out and touch them after I miss the first two times! haha

Rio 20 gauge, 1 ounce, 7.5s at mournings and whitewings. Eurasians as well if they show up while I'm hunting the others.


Sucks that Academy discontinued carrying them and all Rio loads. I am going to have to find another place to get them or go back to Remington ShurShots after a 5 year hiatus.. Lucky to have seen them clearance them off and buy 7 cases before they stopped. $6.49/box and bought them for $5.30

Thanks! Just went to Gibson’s to buy some - they had maybe a dozen cases of 12 gauge Rios and fewer than that of 20 (on display anyway)

Rio's or Monarch's 20ga 2.75" #8's, seems like I clip them when I shot #7.5's but dust them with the 8's

I decided to go with the winchester 12ga. 7 1/2 3in. Was surprised at the price - pretty expensive compared to the Remington. Probably not worth it but my Stoeger autoloader likes them.

I ordered Rio's from cheaper than dirt. 20ga 2 3/4 1oz 7.5. 110$ w shipping. Not cheap, but they had em. Won't have to buy more for another yr or so.
