It is becoming more and more evident that my hearing is becoming "impaired". I used to have excellent hearing and eyesight but about the time I hit my early 40's the eyesight started needing a little help. Now at 63 my hearing is becoming muffled, or I should say has been getting that way for a time but is really becoming a problem. I can't seem to get the volume on the TV at a level where I can understand all the words without driving my wife nuts. Voices are muffled...approaching Charlie Brown's teachers talking. I know the audio on Yellowstone sucks but I am about to believe I am going to have to enable close captioning just to watch it as well as everything else. Today at church we had a visitor from the Gideon's come and speak and I could barely understand anything he said. Anyone else been in the same situation and what helped you overcome it.

Yep. 66 years old and did not wear enough hearing protection while guiding hunts and/or shooting commercial fireworks shows. Lost over 60% of my hearing and have worn hearing aids for years. They aint cheap. The ones I have now cost $6000 but are bluetooth compatible and have GPS mode incase you misplace them. I did that with a $4000 pair!

A lifetime of shooting without protection, 5 years on the Flight line and 45 years in the machine shop business killed my hearing.
Got a set of Costco 9.0’s.
A comprehensive hearing test, Bluetooth compatible, control them on my iPhone.
What will they think of next[emoji849] also will hook up to a smart TV or sound bar.
$1,500.00. Satisfied so far.

Have had the since I was 22....try as many as you can....it will take time to get used to how the feel...not a normal feeling....and start really low volume....you will be amazed at what you are missing. Go see a GOOD ear, nose and throat doc...then see who he recommends as far as audiologist go.

Going through finding hearing aids now! Don't settle on the first place you come across or the first set they hand you. First set I tried sounded like I had on shooting muffs walking across broken glass and caused dizziness to the point of upsetting my stomach. Working on a second pair, we'll see!

Yep, dealt with that and TV blaring and not hearing conversations unless I could see their face.
Found out 4 weeks ago I don’t have to anymore. [emoji106][emoji1]

I was learning to read lips. Then got my hearing aids. But I hardly wear them now. As no one home but me. And I forget to take them with me all the time. So I still have to pay close attentions to what people are saying. And still have to ask to repeat what they said sometimes, pending the frequency of their voice.

I’m pretty much deaf as a rock. I’ve had hearing aids for 16yrs (needed them for several years before I finally got them), had to retire a little bit earlier than planned because of my bad hearing, and don’t watch TV without closed captioning!!!!!
If yours is getting as bad as you describe, you probably need the hearing aids. Like stated above, they’re not cheap. I hate them, but can’t function around other people without them.
