Kind of place I grew up in in old Klein.

    Great deer contest!
I was floored by some of the bucks from Waller county.

Yup, he went and ruined the place. Nothing like walking out back to take a leak behind some corrugated tin with the ground squishing beneath your boots when it hadn’t rained in 3 months and a extremely strong smell of ammonia. I remember when if you were tall enough to get 75 cents on top of the bar you could get you a cold lone star light.

Hudje’s (sp) in Engle was the same way. You could play pool there for a quarter and stood a strong chance of making all the balls in the back left corner on the break with that old crooked wood floor.

I remember my dad stopping at the beer joint in Engle at the corner of 2238 and 90 when I was little. There was also another store between Engle and Flatonia on 90 that he used to stop at. For the life of me, I can’t remember the name of it. Both always had old guys playing dominoes in them.

St. John also had a beer joint that closed pretty close to when I started high school. Mr. Berckenhoff (sp?) would make BBQ on Saturday’s that he sold out the back.

Spent quite a bit of time between High Hill Store and Moravia Store when I lived in that area.

Jacks Roadhouse in San Marcos was a favorite in college. Reverend Jims in Buchanan Dam is a pretty cool beer joint biker bar as well.

The beer is extra cold on Tuesday nights during deer season.

Chudej’s was in Engle. We would stop in there when we were hauling hay in the area. I remember the place between Engle and Flatonia, too. I want to say it was George’s Place or something like that.

Beer and joints don't mix too well, can't burn it after you wet it with beer, lol. My spot of choice is Franklin's Tower in the armpit of Spring, Tx.
