    Climbing Stands

Looking to get a little more mobile while hunting my spots on my lease. What is the latest and most comfortable climber stand? Doesnt have to be the lightest, I wont be walking miles, just a couple hundred yards from where I park my buggy. Will not always have huge pines to climb, some will be a little thinner if that makes a difference.

Summit viper. Tried and true. Most comfortable IMO. Buy the upgraded bungee straps also. Cadillac of climbers

Yep. In the climber world they are the standard that others are compared to. You can buy more expensive.... but not really “better”

If you are a ‘bigger’ guy, look at the Summit Goliath. In fact if interested, I have one I have only used a couple times I would sell.

Never mind, I just realized who the OP was and he is skinny as heck.

I also have two tripods I wouldn't mind unloading that I used for just the same reason you are asking. Used them instead because of the “thinner” pines comment you mentioned. Might keep that in mind also.

Skip the climber and go with a lighter lock on and climbing sticks. You can be up the tree just as fast but will not be limited to straight trees and trees without branches. Also, until you have a lot of practice on different diameter trees, it takes a while to figure out the angle to get started and end up where you want to be with everything being level. I’ve done it both ways and I sold my climber.

There is a Lone Wolf set up in the classifieds right now that would be perfect for being more mobile.

I like Ol' Man climbers. They are comfortable with the net seats and easy to set up.

At 6'2'' and 240, I use the old man grand multivision. It is wide enough to accommodate my fat fanny, climbs well and is quiet to set up. The net seat is comfortable for all day sits, and the reversible platform let's you have a shooting rail for gun or flip it down for bow clearance.

I have used ol' man climbers for years. I found a good sell after Christmas, and bought a new one. The two that I had been using were over twenty years old. The new one is over constructed, compared to the old model. There is a significant weight difference. The new one will be carried one piece at a time.

I have a Summit Razor and love it. The front bar folds down, which is great if you bowhunt.

I've used the old style API Grand Slam for years. Very comfortable IMO. Bought a 3rd one recently for $40. I could sit in these all day without getting sore. Quiet too.

I like lock ons, but they’re not very “mobile”.

I beg to differ. With the right set up and know how, a mobile lock-on set up is much more mobile and versatile than a climber. I believe a lot of folks would agree.
