Predators are not very susceptible to anthrax. They're less susceptible than people and people almost never get it unless they handle the dead animal. Even then its usually an infection in an open would that can be knocked out with antibiotics. It is the herbivores that get hammered.

Got word its hit our place in Ozona. South of town 25miles east side of 163. Dead cattle and deer have been seen but who know how many are in the brush and will never be accounted for. Pretty bummed since our numbers were low to begin with... And hearing it effects exotics and Aoudad is a gut punch... Time to move one after this year...

Just got word We have had 5 dead deer and 7 dead pigs. Not good, but could be much worse and may still get that way. We shall see. Nothing we can do about it now. Keep medicated feed out and hope. Plus no telling how many more that are off in the thick stuff.

Apparently hogs can get it and die from it.
Does anyone have a lease that has a clause in it about getting money back or other stipulations regarding anthrax?

I don't think any landowner in that area would put that in a contract. Honestly if it wipes us out I feel more sorry for the LO than myself. I lose a few thousand dollars but he's going to have a hard time leasing a dead zone.

No doubt. Looks like I might be on this new lease one year if it gets hit hard.
