Absolutely my favorite spot on earth-Soldotna AK. Have been many times. Was there for our 30th exactly one year ago. Actually on that same float trip across Cooks Inlet on this day. You will love that trip with the bears. I checked the numbers on the Reds and they are way up compared to last year. Should be a great trip.

So we woke up at 3:30 AM local time and we’re on our boat by 530 am near Ninilchik where they launch boats with tractors for $75
We went about 20 miles out into Cook Inlet.
Using herring as bait on big circle hooks & 2 lb weights , my oldest son caught the first halibut at 190 feet.
High tide peaked about 90 mins into fishing & they were really biting good on about every other drop to the bottom.
Saw lots of sea otters, beautiful sea ducks & large floating kelp beds.
Conditions are right with little wind, sun & comfortable temps.
