Definitely a persimmon. Back in the late 70's I was working for a forestry consulting firm. We harvested some big persimmon logs near Madisonville and hauled them to a mill in Nashville where they were made into golf club heads.

In my back yard! Never seen any fruit in it. Not sure how old it is. Any way to tell if they’re male or female?

Any limbs you trim or cut off it should be saved. Best smoking wood ever. Flavors a brisket or ribs like no other.

We have lots of persimmons, but that is a nice one
Every animal in the woods eats the fruits

Yes. No fruit = male tree
Great shade tree though. Highly disease resistant too.

For Persimmons to bear fruit, you need 2 of them. Buy a Persimmon from the Nursery and you will be canning a lot.
