'a-v&-"tär - I know how to make one. Now I know how to SAY it!

When I read a word that I've never heard pronounced, I "hear" it in my mind. Well, I've been "hearing" this one wrong for a very long time. Click link for audio pronunciation...

      Nope, you're on your own!

Only the feeble minded would pronounce it differently.....
If I didn't think my opinion was right, then it wouldn't be my opinion. So, any other opinion must be wrong, therefore stupid.

Dang, David...I don't know if I would have admitted that in public! How were you "hearing" it?

Audra, I always assumed it started with a long vowel, as in words associated with birds and/or flight...

            avian
            aviary
            aviator
            aviation
            avionics

But it's a short vowel as in "average"... as in what my IQ must be less than!

            Oh well!

Always enjoy providing a good chuckle at my expense! As long as we're on the subject of self-deprivation humor and the misunderstanding of words...

When I was a toddler, my mom referred to a certain part of my anatomy as "pony tail" during potty training. (I haven't a clue why, but mom's are like that!) Anyway, she had to come up with a different term when she heard me laughing hysterically as the radio played the Jerry Lee Lewis hit "Chantilly Lace." The old farts will get this. Mary, as you're only 27, you might have to look up the lyrics!
