Its great to make extra payments. For you younger folks- the most important factor is buying a house you can actually afford. Chose a house that you can easily make payments and stay there as long as you can. As your income goes up- put more into the house you have and don't be tempted to 'upgrade.'

One of the reasons I like this group is the shared values of responsibility and civility.
