You can request the comps the appraisal district used in determining your value as part of the protest process. The protest process is done in two steps. First you meet with one of the appraisers. If you reach an agreement you are done. If not you go before the appraisal review board and present your case. I would like to try a third party protest to see if they are more effective than I have been.
Why is the onus on the property owner to prove why the value shouldn't have gone up, seems to me it should be on the appraisal district to prove why it was raised. This information should be included in the appraisal increase when you first receive it.

Debbie L. Cummings is the owner of the company we have had on retainer for years. She does not do all neighborhoods in Montgomery County but has added more employees over the last few years.

I use O'Connor and Associates. Montgomery County tax office is a bunch of legalized crooks!!!! I live on 2 acres in Montgomery Trace and they taxed my property as "water front". I told them there was no water other than the creek 50 ft. behind my property line that is an overflow for the lake across Fish Creek. I finally had to take pictures to show them and then they admitted they were looking at an old plat that had a proposed lake on the edge of my property from the 1970's!!!!

I've used them with luck in the past in Fort Bend and Harris county. I'll be using them again this year.

When you say 1/2 of what they save you, is that the appraised value or the actual tax amount????

I still work in Montgomery County...
I moved from a small house on 1/2 acre to a bigger house on 30 acres in Leon County.
My taxes are about the same. Eff Montgomery County...
Yep. We lived in Montgomery County for 15 years and my wife was born and raised there. We finally had enough of the crazy growth and ridiculously high taxes. We bought a nice place up near Livingston a year and a half ago and we pay a third of what our taxes would be if our house sat in Montgomery County. My sister was paying $14,400/yr on their place before they moved!

That would be a property worth $750,000 correct ?

It seems like a lot to me but I also wouldn't know what it's like to own a $900k property . I guess it's relative. I know our tax rate was a lot higher than 2% where we were. We just found that our money went a LOT further on the house/property/taxes in Polk County versus what we were getting nailed for there. Some people love the growth and don't mind the high taxes but I couldn't wait to get away from it all.
