Parker County has the same issue. Most properties jumped 30-100% this year.

Sorry, can't recommend anyone, but we've had luck protesting them ourselves the last several years.

From what I understand you can't protest land that isn't homestead exempt, and your homestead shouldn't be able to jump more than 10%. Not sure if this applies to every county.

I was born and raised in Montgomery County, and lived there for 44 years.
I still work in Montgomery County...
I moved from a small house on 1/2 acre to a bigger house on 30 acres in Leon County.
My taxes are about the same. Eff Montgomery County...

Ive done it once and did not use a lawyer. They kept me the same for several years. And yes, I believe if you are homestead they cant raise more than 10% a year.

Tricky bassturds pulled a fast one this year. My land value went from 9,000 to 32,000 but the entire value went up less than 10%

Our Polk county taxes went up this year as well. A significant amount. I will protest them myself again, last time I had success at doing so.

                          Its theft.....
I live in Magnolia and was shocked that mine only went up 2%...which surprised me....

Tax rates are really cheap at 2% here but the values are going through the roof

O'Connor and Associates. They have gotten mine lowered 11 of the last 12 years. You pay them half of whatever they save you.

Same here and as I understand everyone in my neighborhood got the same treatment. My land value doubled but the house value was reduced by a like amount so my total assessment changed by about 1%. I’ve gone to protest myself for the last several years. You can request the comps the appraisal district used in determining your value as part of the protest process. The protest process is done in two steps. First you meet with one of the appraisers. If you reach an agreement you are done. If not you go before the appraisal review board and present your case. I would like to try a third party protest to see if they are more effective than I have been.
