They look good to me, bought a couple packs a while back but haven’t even been able to use them.

You need to bury the point of that hook just a bit. That first one will catch grass I'm afraid. Don't take much, just the very tip stuck back into the bait about 1/8 of an inch or so will make a BIG difference in its weedless efficiency...
The drawback to that is when you set the hook, set it like a typical bass fisherman does... cross their eyes! Set your drag so it will slip a bit on a hard set if the trout are smallish... Your hook up ratio to strikes will go up exponentially...

Yeah I know about burying the hook, it is like that because I just unhooked it off my rod.

What kind of rod are you using? All I have is medium fast/medium lights

Don’t think those should be a problem, I use medium lights with fast action on my spinner and caster and never had problems. Don’t think they will be any different with these lures.

Just seems like with the hook point buried in the plastic it would be harder... guess that’s why they say jerk harder lol

If you’ve watched tobins video you can see how hard he sets the hook, I guess we’ll have to rip the fish right out of the water, lol

Yep, I use 7'6" rods medium/light with fast tip and once I quit finesse setting the hook and started to wind up my line so the rod tip is straight out or near the water (I mostly wade fish), then cross their eyes, my hook up rate went from about 50/50 to probably 90+%. Trout/reds don't seem to hit these lures and spit 'em out right away because they'e soft and there's no hook point they feel right away. I have come to believe this gives me a little extra time to get the good hook set... One other thing I do if it's a little slow is squirt a little scent into the pocket on the lure... give's em a little "taste" to encourage them to hang onto the lure a bit longer... If it's a fairly steady bite, I don't mess with the scent/taste oil tho. Heck, I use the oils on DSL's and Spooks too...

Probably the best thing I like about this lure is that you can keep it in the strike zone for a loner period of time if the bite is high in the water column... That was one of the big pluses of the corky's when they came out, and I fish these just like a Corky if it's cool/cold... If you're fishing in wading deep water and the fish are hitting it low in the water column or even picking it up off the bottom, this lure is perfect for that too as long as the current isn't too strong... just let it sink and fish it like a bass worm... 2 years ago, they were nailing it and DSL's like that on one of my Chandeleur trips... If there's current, use the 1/16 oz weighted Owner hooks...

I'll be throwing them in the surf in a couple weeks, that Birthday Suit color looks just like a finger mullet. I tale a black sharpie to the tail of the Bone Diamond and the gold one. Walk the dog just below the surface and hold on.

I dipped some Bone Diamond tails in chartreuse... Don't know if it really helped, but When I'm at the Chandeleur's almost everything works better with a chartreuse tail or head...

Haven't gotten any Birthday Suit colored ones yet, but am about to fix that...

One of the best lures I have found to use in the always present floating grass in the Laguna. Tore up the reds and trout on them last summer.
