    Nichol or chrome plating on the scabbard may suggest a time period more recent, if that is what it is. But dosn't mean it's of little value. I'd sure like to see it and if there are any type of tooling marks somewhere on the blade.

          It's a Japanese officer's dress sword from WW-II. I've had several of them.

          Google it and you'll get a picture or two or twenty.



          Usually if a sword has chrysanthemums on it, it's going to be Japanese.

                Nice looking sword! I would have guessed French before Japanese, I would have also been way wrong.
