    Sword identification

I have what looks to be an older sword, however the scabbard is plated with nickel or chrome , may be a old junker no clue, only marking are on the tang, the number 8 and eight gouge marks, blade is in great shape, guard and pummel are brass. Again may be junk but curious if anyone knows. Thanks Adam

What's the diff between a sword and a saber?

The gouge marks indicate the number of ladies he has bedded. At least that’s why the notches in my head board are for.

You need to hunt down the expert from pawn stars.

Yup. 7 more notches and I’ll catch right up to the original owner. Just wish I had more cousins.

Looks like it has a similar shape to a French Sabre ~1845 period, a Chinese Officers Sword Boxer Rebellion period ~1889, or an Imperial Navy Sword. I cannot find an exact match online.

the fact that it is decorated with flowers and the scabbard is nickel plated lends me to think it was some type of show or parade sword. The flowers point to Asia although

I would hold onto it and take care of it. If it is authentic you are probably running at least $200-$300 just because of the history and age (Assuming my estimates are correct)

Is that a cross bolt safety or a mag release button on the left side?
