My wife and kids were out at Cado Mounds yesterday, but left about noon. Anyone know about what time the tornadoes came through? There was a small native american deal going there yesterday, and it was supposed to go until 3.
"The county judge for Cherokee County, Chris Davis, said in an interview that there was an outdoor event being held at the site when a tornado struck. It was the second tornado that touched down in the county, he said.
At least 16 people were taken to the hospital from the site, some by helicopter, Mr. Davis said. Many more were treated near the scene. He said search-and-rescue work had continued until it was dark outside.
“It was pretty scary,” Mr. Davis said.
The first tornado hit the edge of the town of Alto, Tex., he said. More than 50 buildings were damaged, he estimated, adding that the local high school and elementary school had “extensive damage.” "
Thought it should be undated here. Glad my crew made it out safely, but praying for those who did not.

Me too. We were hit close to Mt. Selman on April 19, 1991 and barely got out of a single wide before it was destroyed. I mean barely too ! We were about five minutes ahead of it. I'm not being hard-hearted here, but when the weather people are telling you about a bad tornado outbreak three days ahead of time, why don't folks pay attention ? I guess they think that bad stuff only happens to other people. It was proven to me that it's not the case in '91 and I was extremely paranoid about storms for a few years after. I'm not quite as bad now, but you can bet I keep an eye on them.
I hope these folks get their respective lives back together as easily as possible and I really hope they all had insurance. That can't replace the lives that were lost, all we can do for that is to pray.
Early Saturday afternoon at least three tornados ripped through East Texas. Houston County suffered heavy damage and one death when a woman whose home was destroyed was found in a wooded area, deceased with her poodle at her side still alive. The area across from her property looked has it had been
