        buy you those commercial chunks of rat bait and drop them in the entrance. Should put a kabash on their numbers.

          They make different nests than that here. They stack cactus and bones,trash,small skulls and things like that and burrow under it all. My brother and I used to tear their nest down and shoot them with a shotgun when they'd run out.

          You're liable to find a rattlesnake or a skunk under all that junk they stack up too.

                  Those spots are just a new hunting opportunity, go to Wally World get a low priced pellet gun, visit said dens right around dusk, when you get a hot den you can get multiple shot opportunities especially if you'll put out a bait station for them, say corn in a 1/2" hardware clothe cage!

                      We live trap rats in our barn. Small live trap with one door closed.
                      Easy to catch, but only one a night.
