A couple of my buddies went to CU Boulder. They got Colorado drivers licenses and whatever else they needed to be declared instate and after three semesters paid in state tuition.

If the logistics for Alaska proved too daunting, then looking into places like Wyoming in Laramie, Montana State in Bozeman, and Montana in Mizzoula would all be good places to look at if you can figure out a way to get him in state after some period of time.

But, he could be an Alaska resident after one year. If he moved up for summer school, he could be hunting on Alaska resident tags by the beginning of his sophomore year.

my son got the letters from Univ of Alaska also. I think that all of the schools buy the SAT or ACT database of test takers and the letters start going out.

Bad idea right there. If you do that, parents giving money to their non-dependent kids then have to claim that $ on taxes. Kids would have to claim it too.

full ride trumps out of state tuition to people who can use math.

I agree with you for the most part. if he were to choose an ultra liberal school... we'd have to talk.
He did like A & M Commerce as well as ACU. Would like ACU but even with the scholarship, cost would be higher than a state school.

I am not gonna push him to somewhere he doesn't want to be...but will gently nudge in a general direction
