It's a great college, small, less students per professor. Some family members went there and I wanted to until I toured SWTSU and found my home
In hind sight I should have gone to Southwestern instead of majoring in girls and beer at SWTSU.
I seldom disagree with you but I do on this. If a potential employee has a degree from Southwestern, SMU, St. Edwards or Rice it can make a difference.
Never hired one though; couldn't afford them. Have a bunch of Aggies though
[QUOTE=35remington;14034634]This is an accurate statement.
Happy to disagree, heartily. When someone tells me they're a Southwestern grad, 100% of the time they have turned out to be smart, hard-working, and independent. That's what you get from someone who decided a top notch education and comparatively-boring campus was a good fit for them.
Some of the dumbest college grads I've ever met in my whole life went to Texas public schools. A degree from one of these universities says nothing about the person.
LOL, Public schools provide a much larger sample group than small private schools, there are plenty of dumb college grads from both. I've hired great employees from both, have great employees from both currently working for me and have fired crappy one's from both. Two of my all time worst hires were small private college grads who I'm assuming went their solely because their parents made them, they sucked at life too not just work.
My daughter made a campus visit when she was looking for colleges about 5 years ago. She thought they were kind of "snooty", but they fell in love with her. Private school, so yes, expensive, but they kept throwing scholarship money at her in the hopes of getting her to enroll. She visited Texas Lutheran University in Seguin and fell in love with that school. Also a private school, and they threw scholarships at her as well. She graduated with a BFA (Bachelor in Fine Arts) degree summa *** laude in 4 yrs. with a 4.0 GPA and no debt. Having a big brain (her, not me) can be helpful. TLU is a fine school, and if your daughter is put off by large schools like UT, A&M, Baylor, etc., you might want to take a look at TLU.

My time at SU was easily the best 4 years of my life. Graduation was tough because none of us wanted to leave. The student teacher ratio is awesome and you know everyone by sight if not by name.
If I had to do it all over again that’s exactly where I’d go. Attending Southwestern was like living in utopia. I was surrounded by smart, motivated people who who remain close to this day.
