Trailboss - do not open this thread!

Apparently they've found the fossilized remains of a snake in Columbia that was 42 feet long, weighed 2,500 lbs and was around waist-high at it's thickest point. They saw it could eat animals as large as a cow!

So, they figured out the size, weight, length, girth, climate, and who was president from ONE vertebrae?

That doesn't seem like much of a stretch. If you studied todays snakes and learned the relationship between vertebral size and how it related to the snakes size, there is no reason why you couldn't make rough estimation using a vertebrae from a snake that died long ago. They might be off a little but I bet they are close.

I was going to try to photoshop your head onto a cave man and drop it in the picture with the snake but that's way above my skill level

I'm saying I don't believe them. How accurate can those carbon dating test be? It seems to me that you would have to have a known 60 million y/o standard to compare it to. But since that's not possible....

Maybe it was one of the last vertebrae.
Then the snake was 60' long, 500# and 6' high.

At least You didn't worry about accidentally stepping on one in the dark.
