I'm a recovering alcoholic. 26 years sober now. I drank everyday. If drinking has ever caused problems in your life, i.e. dui, fights, loss of job, them you have a problem.
If your wife is concerned then knock it off. Your in a partnership with her and the leader of your home. Her feeling of security is more important than your desire to drink every night.
If you find that you can't (or don't want to) cut back, you might want to seek out some help.
Showing her that you care enough about her feelings to change will go a long way in your life.

I used to be a functioning alcoholic when I worked for the beer company, and many years after. Settled down a bit, married and had a kid. Now maybe a few beers on the weekends if we get out somewhere. hardly ever drink at home unless standing around fire pit in the back. One of my drinking buddies doesn't drink anymore at all after being a long time drinker due to health, so its slowed me way down.

No more than two drinks/day for men is the recommendation. After about 6/day you run the risk of cardiac and liver complications with long term use. I’ve seen plenty of alcoholics with good livers but congestive heart failure in their 50’s from drinking heavily.
That’s what I say, this is what I do:
1-2 drinks per night after work. Weekends, sometimes more. I’m ok with that. I keep frozen mugs in my fridge and am on dark beers right now. Love to keep a good bottle of whiskey around too.
1-2 beers EVERY night. Don’t sweat it. Nothing to worry about. There are current studies showing men who regularly drink 1-3 drinks/night have a lower risk of stroke and heart attack. Tell Mrs. T that it’s doctor approved.

Ill have 2-8 most nights. Usually not more than 4. Especially when the weather is nice out. My wife doesn't complain about it because she does the same She has started bringing home Ultra now for the low carbs, so I'm not sure that counts as beer! Probably more than I should, but thats what I do.

Then tell her you’ll change. You can pee in the bed and fart in the back yard. #compromise
