    85 gallons = ??? Pounds of corn

Building a fdr using an 85 gallon drum. How many pounds of corn will an 85 gallon fdr hold? It'll have an internal funnel. I'm guessing 150# more than a 55 gallon drum?

    Thx

I am guessing a fdr is a feeder... anyways, mine holds 10-11 bags, depending on what you are using--corn, hen scratch, or protein.

At least. I have one with a 85 also. 6 bags still leaves at least 10-12 inches to the rim. Cant remember the last time I filled it from empty. Mine has a shallow funnel

I want to say I measure this one time and it was 6.6Lbs of corn to a gallon. So 560 pounds or 10-11 50lb bags and some change maybe???

I thought 85 gal would hold 450-500 lbs?

I can place 13 bags of corn ( 50lb Bags ) in my 85 gallon feeder. It does not have a cone in the bottom of it. Been using one on my stand & Fill setup for four years now.

Weld the funnel to the outside of drum (cutting the bottom out), will give you alot more corn space!

There are 0.8 bushels in a cubic foot
                    1 bushel is 55-56lbs

Yep, 10-11 50# bags, no funnel.

I think your feed mill is shorting you.

My 55-gallon feeder has the funnel on the inside and 300 lbs will fill it right to the brim.

Assuming a similar ratio, I would guess 85 gallons would hold approximately 460 lbs.

I won't buy another 55 gallon feeder, very happy with the 85
