Stand n fill feeder idea... need your thoughts

Thinkin about buildin more stand n fills and gettin rid of my crank ups. Robinhood made me a really nice stand n fill out of a 55 gallon drum. The next ones gonna have an 85 gallon drum. But I was thinkin, what about building a frame/ stand and using a plastic water tote instead of a drum? Aint gotta fill it full. 250 gallons of corn would be alot and the stand would need to be heavy duty. But, maybe cut it in half. I can have a metal lid made for it no problem. Would also need to figure out a funnel for the inside.

Lookin for to hear in your thoughts good and bad.

Raccoons, rats and squirrels will chew through it. They're too thin in my opinion.

I've seen squirrels chew thru those blue plastic drums. I figured the totes were thicker. Sumthin to think about.

Sweat, funnel, small filling opening. Coons, rats and squirrels love plastic!

You can get the AS 600# stand and fill on skids, ready to add corn for $ 525
Solid units, perfect varmit guards, easy filling.......sometimes going poorboy is not worth it. I used to build and sell winch-ups......the AS's are all I own now, and will never look back!

Yeah I had something chew through a blue drum feeder I made years ago. So I figured varmints could chew through a tote pretty easy if they wanted to.

Yeah I build all my own stand and fills and for the material and the time it takes me to build one those AS 600 S&F are cheaper than I would want to sell one I built. I've built plenty for other people but it's really just a gesture for them and not money maker for me for sure.

I would like to know where you can get the AS 600# stand and fill feeders for $525? They are $619 on their website. The 300# is $585.

                Any feed store in Texas!

We bought ours at Bulverde Feed, but checked several other places and the prices were within $ 5-10.

We also bought the timed protein for the same price.

I will be running a Capsule feeder this next season. I am getting to borrow it for free, so I’m pretty excited. My dad was running it up until last year, and he liked it. It draws up corn through an auger screw, so there is zero loss to non target critters.

The white plastic gets eat up by the sun pretty quick and becomes brittle

Others have already hit on the same points as I would

I ovule find something more durable to build out of

Good luck with those! Better use super clean corn.

Looks like it will be more trouble than it's worth, and won't last as long as a cheap All season stand and fill
