Is American Express any safer?

Not sure about safer but a 5 minutes phone call and AmEx is all over it. I finally got a AmEx after mulling over the idea of paying a yearly fee $75 but WOW I love the ease of getting things done (and no one has an accent) when you get to a rep. If you can pay off your card every month I suggest everyone carry one

So I assume an individual got our number and used it? I see Nordstrom online with a quick google search gets a lot of these charges (maybe all online stores do?) .
