I recommend his book "American Buffalo: In Search of a Lost Icon". It's excellent. I also read his "Meat Eater" book but it's not as good in my opinion. He is honest though, and tells of a lot of shady stuff he did in his hunting and trapping youth.

Definitely my favorite hunting show. A lot better than these guys going out on high fence ranches and picking a buck to shoot

I have watched years 5 - 7 on Netflix. Really enjoy them. Does anybody know if years 1 - 4 are available to watch anywhere?

I like that show. Best hunting show I’ve seen.

Yea, got tired of those shows a long time ago. Only been on one high fence ranch in my life, never had any desire to hunt on on other one. About like going to one of those safari parks and pulling out a rifle, then pick something to shoot.

You can buy all the episodes on VHX. Season numbers are sorta screwy but everything’s on there

I use the podcast app on my iPhone but if you don’t have one I believe you can find all the episodes on their website

By far my favorite show - I’m just bummed only season 5-7 are on Netflix.

I did buy both volumes of his books as well.

His book The Scavengers Guide to Haute Cuisine is pretty good too. Its about him rounding up all the ingredients using wild game for a bunch of recipes found in an old French chef's cookbook (Escoffier's Le Guide Culinaire), culminating with him hosting a big dinner party for friends and family. Whats funny is that his GF at the time was a vegetarian.

If you like him, check out Fresh Tracks and On Your Own Adventures with Randy Newberg. Randy Newberg reminds me of a lot of hunting back home, but his basic premise of the show is the same, just slightly less production value, which adds to it. All of Randy's shows are on Amazon, Youtube, and I think Netflix or Hulu.
