No, I'm the one that said it would make gun owners look like a bunch of goofy dumb asses. And it looks those that wanted open carry figured this out because you do see them open carrying.

My chl class didn’t give any instruction on firearms handling or safety.

These arnt how to classes they are proficiency tests and legal instruction.

It talked about law to pass the test and we had to shoot and operate the gun with no assistance from the instructor.

I don’t need someone who sat through a weekend class and is now a “instructor” giving me legal advice.

On this site if someone gives legal advice they get attacked even if they have some real experience with that part of the law. But that one weekend makes the LTC Instructor qualified.

Needing the LTC “instructors” blessing to carry a gun is stupid.

Even if they did give some training how much better is someone after 4 hours in a large group class, half of which is classroom than before they had training.

They SHOULD but they won't, you know this. Your thinking country folks with common sense, I'm thinking yuppy city slicker that has never been out doors and never shot a gun. They think they are too macho to ask for assistance and have watched way too many movies and are the top scorer on their video game club.

Same was said when open carry passed.

Agreed. Constitutional Carry is down the list compared to some of the more pressing issues. Like the one you mention. Let's address that.

I'm for it. And my like-minded law enforcement friends are for it.

We have all grown way to **** comfortable with the govt. "doing us a favor" and letting us do something that we should be able to do. As we slide towards the likes of Great Britain and other "free" nations, each generation is more and more fine with giving up a chunk of their freedom to those that don't have our best interests at heart.

Fix my roads. Keep the lights on. Keep the wolf away from the door. Concentrate on letting me and mine pursue happiness and stay the &^%Y out of my life.

Probably sounds funny coming from a career govt. employee...but I've always done my best to protect rights, not trample on them.

Off the soapbox. Back to working for the man.

Either you believe in the 2A or you don’t. It’s not the government’s responsibility to give us permission or train us how to handle a weapon; unless you are military or LE.

I believe every one should pass some form of grammar class and show proficiency with public speaking before the are allowed to exercise their first amendment rights and lets not forget to pay some form of tax with proof in the form of a government issued card that can be displayed upon demand by law enforcement. (Said with great sarcasm)

There is no way to reconcile the rift between the two sides.
The battle will be lost not because the good people who have and carry guns do things that are wrong but because we can do nothing to stop the ones who are not good and do wrong from exercising the same rights we want to keep.

Doesn’t matter. All amendments in the bill of rights carry equal weight. Until someone is proven unfit through due process to exercise these rights then they should not be infringed.

I don't think the constitution is going away.

FYI, Illinois doesn't have CC. Think Chicago. Point is, people who shouldn't have guns will always have guns. That certainly isn't a good reason to infringe on my rights.
