Stopped by a little place in Llano yesterday and had a nice snack.

I had to stalk a spooked rooster, for slaughter and thankfully, that decided to bed down in the weedy aster as opposed to jumping the fence. He'll be delicious.

There be a red rooster in them weeds. Easy does it. Hunting kaak in the field almost makes up for not goin hog huntin at Granger today. The change of stalk and capture tools tickled me.

I just saw the big blacktail 4x4 in velvet. Other bucks are small, he's massive. 150 yards above me, caught my scent and took off.

I am not kidding you- 15 seconds before I looked at the text and picture from our son I had 2 green heads buzz me on the side of the mountain while pig hunting. First time in all the years hunting here it's happened. It can't be a coincidence?

1st Born leaving the nest...

Well, time for a little update for the Artos household for my tbh friends...

You guys really didn't get to hear much about my boy Kenny here on TBH as he wasn't like his Daddy in wanting to spend time in the outdoors hunting & fishing. I'll admit, it sorta was hard to get used to but we are told in the good book to bring them up in their own way & that is what I tried to do.

I really pray that all the young Dad's out there take this advice & let your kids find their own paths...once I let go & let God, it got easier for me on this one aspect I was missing for myself. Yeah, I wanted him out in the sticks with me like I tagged along to his GrandDad, but he wouldn't have been doing it for the same passion we know. He did take a deer or two for his old man & happy to have those stamped in my noggin.

I too, sat through on the other end with his passions and listened to more sport stats than I care to mention & sometimes wish Smart or Heath were in the house to help me get through it all...still, I can't tell you how easy this kid made being a good Dad was for me. I cannot count on one hand the times he has upset me. Heck, he was nominated by his coaches / Teachers & voted best all around Senior by his classmates. Momma found this out through facebook & we didn't even know he was popular. He flies under the radar.

Kenny is a 4th generation McAllen High Bulldog & we recently had their annual Kicker Dance where we were one of the hosts...this is really just a big excuse to get a bunch of graduating families together & make one big party. It was right up there with Bownanza in the fun department & was really impressed with set up. Momma did pretty good until the end & Trace Atkins "You're Gonna Miss This" tune came out. Have to admit that I am getting more sappy the older I get & the house really isn't going to be the same for a while I reckon.

He originally put into UT & was auto admitted, but the more he looked into the population / city life, he got sorta down on the town & not the school. His 1st choice was always TCU & had him put in an application even though a little late...he had to commit to UT by May 1st & the TCU letter of acceptance came in just 2-3 days before. We got one happy kid, one frazzled Mom & one proud rooster Dad.

A new chapter...the oldest off on his journey & my baby girl the freshman!!

Where did the time go??

I just dropped my wife off at SFO to fly to Montana to see our grandson for the first time, I drive out next weekend- with the dogs.

I decided to watch the sunrise at Candlestick Point across from the dirt pile that was the 'Stick.

That sunrise is a little on the cloudy side Bill.

I imagine the Astrodome will be a pile of dirt someday when they get tired of wasting taxpayer money to watch it sit there.

This is turning into a large housing and retail development. Looking east. It's typical bay fog, there isn't a real sunrise, it just get light out. Shooting time! Just not here. I'd love to shoot a pig or deer inside SF city limits before I get outta CA just to say I did it. I did buy my AR BCM M4 upper from a guy in SF!
