GMC/CHEVY, everything else is just laughable.

My 2001 Explorer has the SOHC V6 and has 318,000 miles on it. Still gets driven daily

I would love to try out a dodge POWER WAGON because of the locker hubs

There is no best really. Just what you like. Each have their strengths and weaknesses and their share of previous recalls. I just went from a f-150 ecoboost to 2019 Ram Rebel. Prior to that had a GM truck. Liked them all. So far the RAM RIDES the best of all three and really like the 4x4 system better than either previous half ton. Find one you like and make a decision.

I have always been interested in this truck until I looked up the tow ratings. Might as well be a half ton.

Dodge is total junk, Made that mistake 2 times and wont make it again. The three Fords I have had went over 750,000 miles between them. The Dodge engine is good but fit and finish is a joke.

Don't bring common sense into a "which truck is better" debate...you've been around long enough to know better than that. Let the "my truck is the best truck" chest beaters have their fun

Someone up there said "Ford sells more than Dodge."

That doesn't make Ford better. To compare, if Chevy and GMC were added as one as the only real differences are trim styles, General Motors outsells Ford.

My pick, as I haven't seen one comment that answered your Year/Make/Model question...

I bought a 2016 Ram 1500 2wd and have been unbelievably happy with it. It has the 5.7 hemi. As Ford and Chevy move to aluminum frames and bs to reach MPG goals, Ram has an 8 speed transmission so that it is always in the most economical gear. It is the most powerful truck out of all of them, also.

Now, that's my word. Consumer Report, the money-concise decision maker's Bible, ranked the 2017 the best used vehicle on the market today. You can probably get yourself a Lone Star edition with the Hemi for around $33k or less.

I test drove Ford, Dodge and Chevy and the Ram by far as the best and most comfortable ride. They have 4 independently operating suspensions, one on each wheel, to aid in a comfortable ride.

I would agree with the statement that Ram didn't know what the hell they were doing making trucks, but that was only up until 2014. Since 2014, I would say those are "safe" to buy. No major issues to report with my 2016 which has 28k miles on it.

                  Obligatory Tuck Pics.

Ford offers a 10 speed transmission and GM an 8 speed. Both also offer more powerful engines than the Hemi as well.
