Well I think I may just have to try that. Cedar fence stays should work great for this.

I think Ted used a tree we don’t have in Texas but I’m sure you could use a small fresh cedar and it would work.

How does anyone even think to do something like that?

You know I was thinking about that as well. My guess is some Hunter came across a blow down from a storm and came across a branch horizontally and saw where bucks rubbed on it.

Yep. Nothing. But I used a Sasafrass sapling...that's one of the trees deer rub here. Some other tree may be better.

I have a small tree I pushed over with the tractor at the house last year and all last deer season the bucks would all seem to rub on it.

                      Horizontal rub post

I want to make a few like that in Lockhart where I hunt and there are mainly post oaks, but the few cedar trees out there are always rubbed up this time of year.

I see big live oaks in the hill country that have low, horizontal branches on the canopy edge rubbed like that.

Edit: found a 2015 pic of one

Taking notes over here boss. Bucks seem to prefer the Mexican Buckeyes in my neck of the woods.

                        Thanks for posting this MagicBlade

And looks like a scrape next to it

I would be putting a camera on that location

Yessir 2 rubs and 2 scrapes. Whitetail are a secondary focus for me at that property but that spot and 5 or 6 just like it in the same area are hit year after year.
