Thanks for all the advice guys I really appreciate it a lot. Now I have another screw to throw in the mix. My current VP came up to me at lunch and asked if I’d go with him, of course I obliged. We went to a little place close to the office and he kept asking me questions about hunting. In my head I’m thinking what the hell is going on here? Turns out he is buying horse property north of the DFW and is concerned about hogs attacking his horses lmao. I told him he doesn’t have anything to be concerned about but if there was an issue I could take care of it for him lol. Anyways I asked about the write up and he said that it is policy that if I haven’t locked at least 12 deals by EOM it’s required for a write up regardless if you have PTO or not. This was a huge disappointment to hear as I pretty much have as much PTO I could ever want but cannot use it in a large span which will limit my trips west to hunt. Furthermore I never signed anything that says that. He said he was actually interested in hunting and wanted to learn more since he will soon be moving to Texas (currently flies in from California every week)and is excited to be buying his first gun lol! This coming from a guy that I have heard (not speaking directly to me) that he personally dislikes the thought of hunting and is completely against the idea of it. So I asked him and he said he doesn’t like the thought of killing animals and his wife is a animal freak. At this point I don’t know what to think. Weirdest part of the day was at 3 he sends me a link to apply for management? I didn’t fill it out and left for the day. I gotta go in tomorrow morning for a bit so I thought I would sleep on it until Monday or so. He’s actually a nice enough human and not a terrible VP but he makes management do some messed up stuff so he doesn’t have to take blame. Which makes me feel like he is a coward and not a great leader. Definitely not someone I want to work directly under. For now at least. Wife will want me to take the position I’m sure. So today started rocky and I was full of rage from the day before but after lunch I seemed more comfortable. He said not to worry bout my job I will not be terminated then sends me the link? So confused. I guess I’ll load the truck and leave from the office to the lease tomorrow to ponder what is in the future for me. I am thinking about getting out of the industry and pursuing home inspection.. maybe do my own thing and see how it works out. Need to get licensed etc. anyone do that? Any advice? Y’all are the best, thank you for the wisdom and advice. Oh and to clarify (just te read my rage induced post) my manager is the one telling me tough cookies and writing me up, not the VP. However my manager said that’s what he told me to do.

Contact old VP for possible leads on new jobs, tell him you just aren’t feeling it there anymore. No need for a sad story. Keep working and try to accomplish the goal, if it doesn’t happen and they let you go then so be it. Then when you walk out of the office don’t give them the satisfaction of seeing you mad! Snarky VP it sounds like. I’d shake the **** out of his hand and say thank you for the opportunity then walk out.

Quickly go find a job so he can't build a case against you and then go out with blazing Glory

Look for a job, but in he meantime, meet your goals. That lets everyone above and below him know the real facts. On the way out tell him that you want God to bless him the way you were blessed by the VP

I was in your position in 1989. My boss, the owner, and I did not get along. The only reason he didn't fire me was because I was one of the best managers he had. He resented me because I knew more about what we did than he, and I'll admit that I pointed that out a time or two. All I wanted was to be left alone to do my job, but he insisted on coming over once a week to my yard (location) and wanted me to have lunch with him and the VP of Operations. I missed several of those because I had jobs to take care of, some of which were an hour or more from our yard. This made it worse. I finally just made up my mind to go, so I gave my notice and went in business for myself. I struggled a little for the first year but my business was more successful by the day until eleven years later I sold out and started consulting. I've never regretted for one minute making either move. Good luck whatever you decide.

So what new direction do you want to try out?

I’ll go against the grain here and say punch him in the throat and walk out.

                Someone had to say it...

It may be a good idea to look elsewhere on the down low. I try to be as transparent as possible with everyone that works for me and it sounds like this dude may be playing the double agent on you if that makes any sense. You need to look at your employee manual/job description because if this stuff he wrote you up on isn't there then I'd definitely be leary if his intentions.
