No matter what truck there would have been more damage than the deductible...does it it really matter?

Then put a bed liner over it so I couldn’t see it. Steel bed wouldn’t have done it. And if by chance it did, any weld shop I. The US. Could fix it and make it look new.

What ripped the hole in the bed?

Hauling a pump that was on an old pallet and the pallet broke. Pump fell and slid forward.

              Actually, yes
One material is more expensive to repair than the other making it more expensive to insure.

Re: truck bed damage...Am I the only person who puts in a cheap sheet of plywood, or a plastic bed liner in any "new to me" truck I get?

Cheap prevention to avoid the vast majority of normal use dings...

Ah ok. I’ve had a Dodge catch fire on me. My brakes went out and the front driver side popped smoke. Luckily I got out in time after dropping the transmission to first, and was able to put the fire out. I wouldn’t want any burned truck though.

Have I said anything at all to make you believe i think a burned truck should be repaired and put back on the street? Or, have I in fact said just the opposite is likely to be the case?

By how much? I highly doubt it’s a significant difference.
If I am wrong please provide some links.

TBH has a lot of idiots these days.
I'm an insurance agent, so just maybe you ain't quite as smart as you think you are.
I have been told by body shops, home office personnel, and several other in the industry this.
Aluminum cost more than steel, that's common knowledge for most people. That's why people carry bags and grabbers up and down the road side.

If I was so sure of myself I would post some informative links...
I mean wouldn’t an insurance agent have some proof?
