In my last house, that’s what my Carrier looked like after 3 years. Sickening.
Luckily mine was covered by warranty. But labor wasn’t. Still cost me a chunk of coin.

All of them have crappy coils. Changed several out this year that had rusted out drain pans. Some have gone to all aluminum. This will probably be the real corrosion fix.

Knock on wood my TRANE was installed in year 2000. Still going and never a hiccup.
Trane unitary AC equipment up to 25 tons was originally General Electric CAC products until Trane bought them out back in 1982. Trane even kept the same equipment model numbering and adjusted the prefixes and suffixes as required for changes and upgrades. A few years later American Standard bought Trane and now Trane is owned by Ingersoll Rand. I worked for several years for an HVAC contr that was a GE distributor and then Trane. The G.E. Climatuff motor windings in a Trane sealed hermetic compressor are second to none. General Electric was the first MFG to ever offer a 10 year warranty on their compressors. Guess I am partial to Trane equipment.

We went with a Trane unit and couldn’t be happier!
Yep. They installed a 21 seer Lennox in my house and couldn't be more happy.

I build a lot of homes with American Standard.

Just had a Bryant 5 ton unit put in 6 weeks ago. Working great, and has 10 year warranty if registered within 90 days of install. Cooling bill cut about 1/2 of my old 4 ton unit.

Trane or Daikin if you want a unit that is warrantied long term.

After reading and hearing first hand experiences of newer units taking a dump.
I think I’m gonna upgrade my attic insulation and get radiant barrier installed before I replace my low seer
17 yo American Standard. It runs like a tank and only ask for a refrigerant bump every now and then.
Maybe if I can reduce it’s workload it won’t have to run so often on the 90*+ days.

                  **edit** nock on wood .....

What are you going to do when R22 isn't available?

Upgrade at that point I guess.

I was getting mentally monetarily prepared to do so next spring anyways, just gonna kick the can down the road if possible since my current unit hasn't died yet.

Goodman is what I have and seems to work just fine. My electric bill went down extremely after I got it!

Plenty of R22 available, you can buy a tank online cheap. That’s what I did, no need to pay a AC Company big bucks to charge your system. For what they charge for 1-2 pounds, you can purchase the entire tank.

That is the situation today, but this option will be gone before we know it.

For those that used Daikin. Are they still working good?
