My thoughts also. Use the surrounding trees to your advantage which will help cut down on having to use as many t-posts and strengthen the set up.

These guys have submitted pictures. Make it radius 25' or better.

Look for user DBHIII He has an amazing setup.

      Also a great reference.

Do the portable panels work just as well on keeping hogs out or do you have to stake them down?

Last year my hunting buddy bought a place and the previous owner left behind feed pens made from portable interlocking panels. We moved some feeders around and it was incredibly easy - I'm a believer. It's the way to go if money is no object

Do you happen to know the name of the place? I think I want to go that route next year on my Pontotoc place.

Nice looking pen gunny. Think they have gone up in price now. How many do you use and have you had cattle mess with them at all?

3 strand barb wire didn't stop the cows for me last year may be range conditions. This year I just made a really small pen w cattle panel just around the feeder and it slings corn outside for deer/hogs.

I have not used them yet. But when the hogs get to bad we will

I'm sure it happens, but in all my years I've never seen a deer hanging in a 3-4-5 strand barb wire fence. But 36" field wire or panels with 2 strands of wire just above is a death sentence. Make the bottom wire 18" off the ground and most deer will go under, instead of jumping unless they are pressured.

I have pulled 3 fawns out of feed pens w cattle panels & 2 grown deer out of a net wire fence w 1 strand of barb wire run about 4" above net wire. Needless to say no more barb wire above fence anymore.

I have some portable panels for feed pens, and they are AWESOME. Cost a little more than t-posts and hog panels, but they are far easier to set up and move, if needed. You can wire them together to prevent a hog from lifting one up and knocking it loose.

That said, if all you're worried about is cows, I have had great luck for several years just wiring a t-post to every feeder leg and then wrapping 5 strands of barbed wire around the t-posts and feeder legs. Weave a stave wire around each strand in between each of the t-posts. Put the bottom strand about 24" off the ground so deer can eat corn under the feeder. Put the top strand up where the feeder motor is to keep the cows off of it. Cows won't eat much corn off the ground. As long as you can keep them from knocking the feeder over or knocking the motor off of it, you're good. The t-posts and barbed wire accomplishes that. No pen necessary unless you need to keep some other type of critter away from the corn.

Never had a deer or anything else get hung up in the barbed wire that way. Nothing jumps it. It does make an easy ladder for the coons to climb, so you need a varmint cage on the feeder to keep the coons out.

How many panels is that pen?
