Kiewit Corporation has the contract, they have a large company named Gilbert Texas Construction which you might be familiar with. Kiewit has done some incredible work in North America, they are into every thing. I believe Boeing Company had the original contract and I'm not sure if Boeing hired these guys or if they stepped in and took it from Boeing. Majority of the guys doing the work are from out of town. It's not a ragtag group of guys from what I've seen. If you drive into a track home builders subdivision in Austin, Dallas, Houston, S.A. you will see immigrants, we have too many law enforcement agents down here in the city to have an illegal problem. If your looking for a job or a career change Homeland Security is hiring. You'll end up on the border somewhere in the U.S. I personally dont think it's to bad of a job.+81
The reason I posted was to show what the government does to try and solve a problem. The mexico side is clearing all of the land and are going to put in parks, landscaping, walking trails in an order to beautify their side of the river in the area that is in view of the bridges

My stepson works for the Border Patrol in Eagle Pass and spends a lot
of time on the golf course. He says they cross at all hours of day and night.
The only time they get a break is when the Rio Grande is running high, not
much chance lately. Most of them are looking to better their life but there
are some real bad asses coming over.

That is a good looking fence, not going to get through that with a $5 pair of wire cutters. Whatever your thoughts about illegal immigration, the fence is great for keeping out crime, and anyone can tell you, crime in mexico is skyrocketing.

The river is running real high right now. Amistad is still letting out lots of water, it was at capacity or close to it 2 months ago. Crossing on the golf course is guaranteed capture.

It is looking like my parents are going to live on the SOUTH side of the fence. The last time my sister was down there she said they were putting up a gate down the road from my parents place. Some of the stuff my Dad has told me lately have me worried about them.

My sister was down there for Thanksgiving and about dark one night there was a gunfight just down the river from my Mom and Dad's place. Machine gun fire for several minutes, followed by a couple loud explosions.

Then the other night, my Mom had gone to something at church and was just on her way home when my Dad called. As soon as she answered it he asked, "Where are you!" She said she was just leaving Harlingen, click he hung up. Turns out, he was sitting in the living room watching TV and someone knocks on the door. Thinking it was my Mom, he walks over to help her in and as he is walking to the door someone is trying the door knob trying to get in. He yelled out, "Is that you?" and it stopped and immediately after that the dogs broke out barking. I grew up on the banks of the river and, knock on wood, we have never had a problem, but this stuff is kind of unnerving. To add to it, now I guess my Dad is having to go check the pumping plant at midnight some nights for some reason.

My buddy from high school that works for the Border Patrol says they don't have any idea how they are going to patrol the fence once it's up. If they are going to stay on the North side of it, basically creating a no mans land in between the fence and the river or have to patrol inside the fence. If they do go inside and get in to trouble how do they get out if there are only gates so many miles? It's crazy.
