Border Fence in Eagle Pass,TX w/ pics

I wanted to show you guys what the government is building along the river down here. The photos below are in an area that is between the two international bridges going to Mexico. The city golf course is down in this area between the 2 bridges. Mind you that customs/ immigration is at each bridge and the area between the fence and the river is open and about 400yds wide. When the river floods the golf course gets hammered so they built the fence up out of the flood plain. There's also a 80' mono-pole with daylight and infared cameras mounted atop that views this whole area back at border patrol head quarters. When I took the photos I saw 3 border patrol trucks in the area sitting. You would have to be a pretty stupid human to try to cross over into the USA in this area.
Their reason for wanting to fence out the golf course and parks is that there were high apprehension numbers in this sector back 3 yrs ago. That's when the O.T.M. (other then mexicans) were walking across the river and waving shirts, flags sitting in the middle of the golf course and waiting for border patrol to come pick them up so they could get their walking papers after processing and promise to reappear in court in 30 days. Everyone of them went straight to the Greyhound station and headed north. Border patrol could not send them back to Mexico b/c they weren't mexican and we would not detain them here. They called it Political asylum in some cases. Anyways it just ****** me off that the government throws are baseball and soccer fields, golf course, boat ramp, into no mans land.
The fence will not stop anyone that really wants to get across it, it's merely a deterent or obstacle that might delay a man 60 seconds. Sure is expensive though.
The excavator is on the mexican side
The fence comes right up to the golf course club house
Yes that is Mexico in the background of a bunch of the pictures

Oh, never mind! You just showed your lack of intelligence in that statement.

One of my best friends built a nice new home a stone throw from Mex..I went to look at it the other day and drink some cold ones...I asked him what that was in behind his house..."The fence" he replied, my jaw dropped open..I smiled and told him that I imagined he was in favor of it since he was so close to his house..I could literally hear noise from Nuevo Progresso from where we were standing

Especially when high fences are put up to fence out bad neighbors.

Where's the barb wire or shards of glass on the top of that fence? Doesn't look like it would take much to break or climb through that thing.

I worked on the fence project but not in this area. Staked out where the fence was actually going to go with GPS. This fence looks pretty weak compared to sme of the other ones.... Ran into quite a few ****** off land owners that the gov't took land from. Since it was cheaper to build the fence in straight lines rather than with the meanders of the river....

This fence deal is a CROCK! If they just monitored the area like they are now that the fence is there, they wouldn't need the fence... If they built the fence and didn't monitor it and guard it, the mexicans would disassemble it and take it back to mexico with them. Our rancher put up a new cattle fence along the river over a stretch of about 2 miles. 2 weeks later the whole fence was gone, posts and all, plus they took the old wire that had been removed and rolled up along the fence route when the new fence was installed. In Val Verde county, they started the zero tollerance policy of all illegal border crossers. The BP and other local law enforcement agencies began to enforce the current laws and make arrests and started to do background checks on all the arrested people, and they got a minimum 6 month jail sentence. Val Verde county built a nice new jail facility East of town for all their new guests... Border crossings have gone down 97%!! and crime in the county has plummeted over 70%! There ain't no fence there, and the ranchers along the river are fighting vigorously against the fence. If they do build the fence, I'll lose two of my stands... to of my best ones too... The area where Chew and Skeeter killed almost all the animals they have taken in the past few years will be on the wrong side of the fence, and of course all the great duck hunting will be a thing of the past without access to the river. Heck they should build the fence on the mexico side of the river. There's where the problem is anyway.... Ok, off my box and back to normal again... carry on.
