    Headed to port a

We will be headed to Port A on thrusday for a 4 day weekend taking the camper and the kayaks. I've got a few tips from the tbh crowd already but any updated info would be awesome.

I've never fished Port A and want the wife to have a good time so we can make this trip a few times a year. Not asking for your honey holes just trying to get the wife hooked so she wants to keep going.

We will be staying at the pioneer rv.

Shoalwater, work the North bank out 20-30 yards for reds. Specs in the surf. Enjoy yourself! I’ll be back in a week or so.

Stay at Gulf Waters RV Resort. A little more than the cost of Pioneer but the wife will thank you. We just finished 30 days there. Very very nice set up. If you don’t book there, don’t show it to her.

Will keep that in mind for next trip. Hopefully sooner rather than later, but that will depend on how many fish we can get on.

Warning-don’t leave anything of value in vehicle if you park at Wilson’s cut. Break ins do occur. Especially if you’re at the boat ramp.

Deadmans is good for blk drum, w/dead shrimp.

                      B&R is another good spot.

                          Brown and roots flats
On south side of 361, not a secret spot.

B&R is your friend. If the tides are super low focus on any deeper holes you can find and the channel edges in the circled pic.

Second for Wilson's Cut. Lots of water to explore there but as mentioned, leaving valuables in your ride could result in a break in.

Never fished Lighthouse Lakes but it's a popular fishing spot for yakkers. In reality, you can pull over anywhere between AP and the ferry landing to launch your yaks and fish (including Steadman Reef).

Keep in mind that if you fish B&R, Lighthouse or along the causeway between AP and the ferry landing, you're going to have to take the ferry over and back. If you don't mind waiting in the ferry line going and coming, you'll be good.
