I'm sure there are some on here that have made a big change to go to the mountains, so I thought I'd see if anyone had any advice. We're not completely serious about it, but it's always been a dream nbn of ours to live up there. I am a die hard native Texan, but there is just something about being up there that is welcoming enough to turn things upside down and the move.

I’ve lived in Montana and had no real issues there.

Gillette, Wyoming was hopping. Not sure about living costs there.
My groceries were more costly and I had to drive further to get to the nearest store. The cold weather and wind was tough to adjust to. Wind deserves a sentence all its own. LOL I worked outside.Last edited by Worksalot; 08-03-2018, 04:28 PM.

make sure and allocate for state taxes in your budget. They take a nice bite out of your paycheck. Depending on the county you are in property taxes can be fairly steep as well. And last but not least, make sure and save for car registration. When I moved from there in 93 it was costing me 450.00 per year to license my truck.

The wife and I were in Denver about 10 years ago for a couple weeks getting some medical test done. The city was very nice. Wife was in Denver a couple weeks ago for a week and said it was a dump homeless people everywhere. Police really busy running up and down the streets. She saw a homeless dude that had stolen a city truck fly by with police chasing him. Then saw it on the news that night. Her organization was having a conference there and they have scratched Denver off their list for future events. Love the mountains guess just stay out of the big city.

I don't give a sh@t about their political views like others will state. My neighbors are very liberal(and I am not); best neighbors ever. Just cause someone has different views does not mean you can not get along.
