I have spent the last 7 weeks travelling extensively on the weekends and I have seen a lot of sports cars airing it out on the highways in LA/MS and Florida.
I used to have an Escort back in the late 80's, big giant thing but it worked, lol. I will say that I really think the Waze app on your phone can and would make a big difference to driving above the limit. We have had this conversation these last several weeks. It is a great app and you can leave it on and running and it will notify you of LE on the side of the road, hidden and on the opposite side of the road. I really think it's better than a radar detector and it's free. Granted, it's only as good as the people using the app and updating as they travel along.
Anyone else using it for travel?
I usually dont go more than 5-10 mph over but this Friday I was headed to Austin from Houston and there were 10 state troopers in a 30 minute period and only 1 was reported on Waze.

I used to swear by an Escort Passport, however, I haven't used a radar detector in years. If I lived in a rural area, I might reconsider, but I shelved mine a number of years ago. Why?
- Laser technology has been used in and around the city of Houston for a long time now. I don't care what radar detector manufacturers say, none of them work worth a flip in detecting laser unless it's pointed directly at you.
- False alarms are typical in urban areas
- Can't even drive speed limit in many areas simply due to traffic congestion. I'm not just talking rush hour traffic. I drove to San Antonio 2 Saturdays ago and couldn't go over 60 mph on I-10 between Houston and Columbus even if I wanted to.
- Speed limit is 75 in most open areas, which is fast enough for me. In reality, you can go 80 without worry much about being pulled over. When I was a kid, I remember when the speed limit was 55 on many highways.
