I’d hammer the seller and if he leaves bad feedback for you then dispute it with gunbroker. I wouldn’t sweat the barrel break in. I know a ton of folks that don’t do it and get very very good groups (1/4” or better). Myself included. I’ve had break ins done by pros. Couldn’t really tell a difference in ones I’ve had broke in and ones I haven’t.

New in box means NEW IN BOX. Like new in box can be said. But notate that it’s been fired. No question about it

Yup... part of the decision is based on the new condition.

What's the item # on GB...pm me if you don't want to go public. Would like to see the auction before passing judgement.

What does the bolt face / or in this case the stainless frame look like around the firing pin?? Can you see where fired cases have left some imprint from repeated firings or is it fairly clean??

The guy has decent feedback although not very many with an avg of one gun a month...still, 173 A+ is solid. He's an ffl & gives no history of the gun. I'm not familiar with these & not sure if this is a common package put together by TC or piece meal the seller or someone put together with mounts & glass as a consignment.

One thing for sure, if the gun is dead on paper, then she's been shot beyond factory test firing. We don't know if this was put together at his shop or a consignment someone brought in saying it was NIB.

Here's the rub & just depends on how / if you want to escalate the issue. The inspection policy is AS IS. The guy may be very reasonable with your pics / evidence. Some sellers put as is & are still reasonable if this is a sticking point for you & ready to fight. That doesn't mean he can tell you to shove it, but with decent feedback it doesn't seem to me the seller is a perpetual jack wagon trying to screw folks.

First thing I would do if you have doubts & already have buyers remorse is to reach out, show the pics & see how he reacts. If he says no problem, return the gun but only if you are you prepared to just that. If it were me & I liked the gun at the price / could get passed what appears to be a sighting in?? I wouldn't bother him, shoot it & hope it grouped bug holes simply because I bid on an AS IS auction. The fact you cleaned it, tells me you are sorta fond of it or you would have been screaming already.

If it shoots like crap, move it for what you can & strike it up as lesson learned. I bet the seller never even looked down the bore myself.

The thought never crossed my mind that the pistol may or may not be a consignment item.

The only reason I cleaned it is because of the filth down the tube. I’m probably a little more particular than most and not really a used items type of a guy. My spidey senses went off with a mounted scope for no apparent reason. Ohhh well.. lesson learned. Not really to concerned one way or the other. Thanks

bad news is it was not un-fired new in box, good news is he saved you the un-necessary breaking in process.

I'm in the gig & prefer used for most buys...just remember to ask questions from sellers that have AS IS. I really don't think he was trying to mess with ya, but remember not to mess with any gun until you decide you are going to keep it. That just gives the seller ammo to not stand behind his sale.

Hope it shoots lights out!! Good luck
