I have around 200 direct and indirect reports I manage. I have lost all faith in humanity. Each year with the next generation it gets worse.
I am so looking forward to retirement.
Yes if doing it correctly the employee would have multiple write up am warning in their file before being Fired.

There was never any "write ups" in the oilpatch. The old guys use to say "There ain't but two can'ts in the oilfield, if you can't get it, you can't stay". No cry closet either ! I guess we were just insensitive clods !
Your original question:" Is integrity a thing of the past?"
You have one employee leave in a way that disappoints you.His exact reasons are unknown excepting only higher pay.
How many employees do you have?
How many behave and perform as you would like and expect?
The ratio may answer your question and also give insight into the quality of the workplace and practices.
Ive had well over a thousand employees thru the years. A few really disappointed me. Some stole, some filed frivolous suits, some went into competition etc etc. But by and large most have been folks of the highest integrity I have enjoyed associating with.
So my experience and answer to the original question is that I find the world full of people of the highest integrity and morals and choose not to let the few taint my perspective.

Then if you were an employee you would have the right to file unemployment and get paid for not being terminated correctly.
It didn’t have to be two weeks. It could have been two hours. Like I said he was a key employee and it would have been nice to have been debriefed. He actually did our hiring and expected out of others what he didn’t do himself.
That is a tough one... Monday morning at that. Hope ya find a replacement that fits in even better

I know what my personal answer to this question is. I was more curious what other employers are experiencing across the board really. Thank you for the reply I respect you for still have faith in humanity and not letting the few bad apples taint your view.
