Unless he was just incredibly under-coached (possible with the last regime) at TAMU I just don't see the potential.

In all honesty, how many years do the Texas folks think it should take to turn this thing around?
For reference, GP was terrible his first year and righted the ship. He was then terrible his first two years in Big 12 and righted the ship his third year.
I would think in Herman's third year he could/should make some noise in the conference and postseason discussions...
I understand there are a ton of differences in the two situations, but it's mind boggling that it could be in this state with the amount of resources, etc.Last edited by eradicator; 07-23-2018, 04:51 PM.

Mack took a steo back in year two after losing a Heisman winner. Stoops came out of nowhere to win it all in year two with another coaches players. Hmmm, that coach was black too. Lol.
I hope Herman has a successful 20 year career. It doesn't have to turn around fast but it could.

To truly turn it around, they have to recruit AND develop. Are they doing that now? I think the QBs will tell the story but odds are they are no where near the level required to make noise outside of the conference. I think most of the predictions I have seen are about right. Competitive, but with work to do.
If you go back and re-watch the Texas vs USC title game, the talent on the field is staggering.

I personally think it was the complacency with the AD that allowed it all. There are two reasons why TCU was able to be somewhat relevant(in the big 3 sports). Gary Patterson and CDC(I honestly think CDC has benefited more from GP than the other way around).

CDC knows how to play the role and get the money moving.
GP runs the show in Fort Worth.
